About the artist: Sigfredo Pastor Argentine painter, draughtsman and engraver. Born in Bragado, Province of Buenos Aires on March 7th. 1912. At the age of 16 he starts collaborating in El Grafico, a sport magazine as a draughtsman and gets interested in different artistic disciplines: set design, painting, engraving, drawing and sculpture. He attends Rodolfo Franco, Spilimbergo, Facio Hebecquer and Riganellis workshops. He delivers set designs for the first independent theatres in our country and takes part in numerous exhibitions in the most important galleries like Peuser, Witcomb, Van Riel, Arthea, Atlantida, Suipacha and L-Atelier Galleries, among others. He illustrates different xylographies about Mahatma Gandhi, and also a folder of color xylographies called -Buenos Aires, Tango - with texts by Leon Benaros, Catulo Castillo, Julian Centella, Nicolas Olivari and others. He has produced covers and illustrations for a number of authors of old, classical or contemporary books.
